Threading the Needle

We love downhill skiing  especially in  ideal weather and fresh powder.  However, one of the most

thrilling and daring experiences, is skiing among the trees.  It is often referred to as in the trees, but we really want to focus on going between the open spaces.

In this type of skiing there is a certain solitude that enhances awareness.  It is a much slower endeavor than straight downhill. You must use all your senses to feel every move, to absorb the powder and make that immediate next turn

to avoid danger. Yet, you are always looking ahead and planning your next sudden tact.

When you emerge back on a trail, you cannot help but have a huge contented smile on your face that comes from deep within. My inspiration for this painting was a good friend who skis everything well. Bravo Steve!
