Nestled beneath the Ko'olau mountains on Oahu's windward side, is Waimanalo, a farming and laid-back local community. No high rises here. A few "mom and pop" stores, a couple of eateries, a gas station and the BEACH.
I am always seeking new places to set up my easel. The beach is a natural draw. This day I was attracted to
the harmonious colors,
and the surrounding foliage of the charming homes fronting the shoreline.
I felt the background was
too complicated and "messy." Using artistic license, I simplified, redesigned,
and then added a path and a figure for more intrigue.
