We stopped at the Ke'anae Peninsula half way out on the road to Hana to try our luck painting the wild crashing on-shore waves. What a morning! I was entranced by the dancing palm trees in the distance, the greens against the blues, and the sheer power of the roller coaster waves. This truly was a "moment in time!" A homeless woman and her yippy, nervous dog was parked next to us. We were a bit fearful of her attitude and realized quickly that she thought we were intruding on her special space. We seriously considered backing off and trying to find another spot but, in the end, held firm to our precarious cliff-side locations. Amazingly, after 3 hours, a certain respect developed and by the end of our painting session, we shared goodies from our cooler, and she traded hoarded chocolate from her stash. Forever friends!
