Winter Warrior

When in Utah during ski season, we take a day off now and then to ramble out into the countryside and are often rewarded by seeing interesting sites very different than Hawaii Nei.

The old seasoned barn in this painting served a vital purpose for some family for many years.  It’s fun to imagine its history and uses. Feed storage for a herd in the winter, protection for tractors or other farm equipment, or grain for the end of the season? It might have even had a dairy milking parlor for cattle back in the day!

What it has today is character. Coupled with the snow covered trees, the mystery of the sky and the surviving fence, it stopped me in my tracks with the thought, "I need to paint this!”
